Helen Foster-Grime, Lib Dem European Parliamentary candidate for the North West of England, joined John Leech MP for Manchester Withington and his guests, including Mark Hunter MP and Lord John Lee at Longfords Stadium, Chorlton, Manchester for a celebration dinner.

Over 140 Liberal Democrats and friends from all over the North West region enjoyed listening to guest speaker Vince Cable MP, the Lib Dems Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor. Vince, former Chief Economist at Shell International, spoke about the difficulties facing the British economy, which Vince and his Lib Dem team had warned the Government on for several years.

Helen said, "Vince Cable was right to warn the Labour Government about the credit crunch and the difficulties now facing many of our north west families as a result of their mismanagement. They cannot blame the US sub-prime market for all their problems." Helen added, "The Liberal Democrats now have the strongest team on the economy in Westminster. It is time this Government started listening."
